The Birds and the Bees of MP3'ees

I always find humor the best learning method. So I took a humorous route to educate people about MP3s. Please note video uses audio.

The images for the video were created using Adobe Photoshop; however any imaging program such as Microsoft Paint could have been used. I created a few animation GIFs for this such as the seen when the word MP3 moves like a sound wave during the music making scene, the scene where the numbers are filtered to the ear and the scene where there are police sirens and Codec nagging. A GIF can be created using this FAQ and the program Adobe Photoshop. I also found a few stock images online to be used. Yes, the lion, the squirrel, the bird, and the bee are all clip art.

I used Microsoft Sam a built in audio reader and found a program that converts text to MP3s. I wrote a script and inputed it into the program to be read by the computer. For the boy's voice I used a higher pitch than the dad's voice. I also found free stock music online for the beginning and the end. I used a slice of the music found in the audio I needed to listen to for my class. This music was the scene where the MP3 moved like a sound wave. I choice this music because I found it funny as an introductory audio to the clip I needed to listen to in order to create this video.

I then used Windows Movie Maker and created the audio first. Then I began to add images and create more images to fill in the gaps. For the "animation" I create an image and then altered the image in Photoshop, saving it as a totally new image. I utilized a zoom affect on movie maker to save me some time in animating for the scene of compression. Lastly I added some credits to the end and published the movie.

It was a lot of fun animating this movie and I worked on trying to educate but have it be as funny as I could without going too overboard.

I think this is a great take on a tech subject. I'd like to know the what & how of its creation - programs used, etc.

Great idea! I just added how I created this video to the end of my blog.
